NearFX is a consulting company based in Houston that draws upon a wide variety of very experienced subject matter experts for the solution of challenging exploration, development, prodution and drilling problems. We specialize in Paleoscan, Structure Solver and Trinity, and are also at home with other software including Petrel. It is led by Steve Tobias , a state-of-the-art geoscientist and exploration manager in the deepwater and onshore environments of the GOM (especially subsalt), Atlantic Margins, WCSB, North Sea, Australia, SE Asia, Colombia, East Mediterranean and elsewhere. From 2014-2017 he led Hess Corporation in their North Sea Near Field Exploration efforts, based out of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Two projects in South Asia, dealing with reservoir development in fractured carbonates, and also exploring for bypassed pay in the Caspian

The generation of high quality plays and prospects (including subsalt) using the latest geology and geophysics technologies, including rock physics, inversion, neural networks, petroleum systems analyses, detailed palinspastic work, geobody mapping and resource evaluations.
Application of advanced technologies for more efficient unconventional plays, including advanced attribute and fracture analysis, structural modelling and integration of mircoseismic with distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology.
Guidance and design of sophisticated seismic processing for subsalt targets incorporating the latest in RTM, SRME and FWI criteria. Design of competitive bid for clients. Design and supervision of onshore 3D surveys.
Professional representation of non-operating clients at partner meetings.as been involved in Near Field Exploration management for 25 years. His early career was with Mobil, Tenneco and BHP Petroleum. When Pogo Producing created their first International Exploration Department in 1993, he was recruited to set up the organization. He was instrumental in Pogo’s discovery of the Benchamas Field and its satellites two years later, a “Near-Field” discovery that remains Thailand’s largest offshore oil field.
